Officials from the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology of Jamaica participated in a Workshop on Capacity Building in the National Energy Balance Methodology (BEN)

Within the framework of the Project “Strengthening the capacities of the Energy Statistics of the Caribbean”, which has been executed by the Latin American Energy Organization (Olade), since January 2018 with the financial support of the World Bank, the workshop on Capacity Building was held in the National Energy Balance Methodology (BEN). Training that was addressed to officials of the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology of Jamaica and was held in the city of Kingston from August 27 to 29, 2019.

Olade’s technical team, made up of Fabio García and David Delgado, taught the contents of the new harmonized methodology Olade – IRES (International Recommendations on Energy Statistics – IRES) for the management of energy statistics and construction of the BEN. This meeting also defined the functional requirements for the Energy Information System of Jamaica, which is about to be implemented in the country.

Through this project Olade seeks to increase the quality and optimize the dissemination of energy information in the region to promote the availability of harmonized energy statistics, with international standards to ensure that the data management of the sector, becomes one of the pillars that promotes the sustainable and inclusive development of our countries.
