Honduras’ Energy Secretariat, National Electric Energy Company and Olade sign training agreement

With the signing of a tripartite agreement between the Honduran Energy Secretariat (SEN), the National Electric Energy Company (ENEE) and the Latin American Energy Organization (Olade), support was provided to implement the Energy Efficiency Education Program (PEEE).

The main focus of this training is to generate the necessary competencies for the training of energy managers who can perform energy performance evaluation, facilitate monitoring, measurement and analysis, as described in the ISO 50.001 Standard, or be used independently.

This training will consist of a virtual module and a classroom module, the latter designed for public officials in Honduras.

This event was held as part of the activities during the VII Energy Week in Panama, from December 12 to 16.

Olade’s Executive Secretary, Alfonso Blanco, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and the space for collaboration, while describing the signing of this agreement as a new demonstration of the close ties with Honduras.

“It is clearly a source of pride and a sign of the continuity of the work we have been developing with the government of Honduras in a number of lines of assistance. In Honduras, we highlight the construction of public policies on the energy sector that translate into the development of the sector and also opportunities for the population itself. It is essential to work on energy efficiency, to train, to provide support to our Member Countries so that they can build these capacities and work in depth. This is part of our role, our commitment and the continuity that we have had with one of the most active member countries in this collaborative work”.

For his part, the Undersecretary of State in the Office of Energy of Honduras, Tomás Antonio Rodríguez Sanchez, highlighted and thanked the “close and productive” collaboration with Olade, which “has made it possible to make progress on several issues such as energy efficiency, national energy policy, the new Hydrocarbons Law -which we are developing and hope to present to Congress next year-“.

“All of Olade’s support in terms of technical assistance and training is part of the effort to revitalize the energy sector, pursue a greener and cleaner transition, and advance in public policy formulation and consolidation of the regulatory framework,” he added.
