OLADE’s Director of Studies, Projects and Information, Medardo Cadena, participated in the inauguration panel of the Energy Virtual Experience 2023 in Lisbon, where energy transitions and new technologies were discussed.
During his speech, he highlighted the importance of Energy Transitions in the region and addressed the challenges related to Market Redesign Technologies. Taking care of the consumer and not affecting access to energy are some of the crucial goals of these energy transitions in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to Medardo Cadena. “Latin America and the Caribbean’s commitment to the decarbonization process is evident,” he said.
In addition, he emphasized the concern about asymmetries in energy transitions in the region. Some countries are progressing more slowly due to gaps that are not only related to the availability of resources, but also to the preparation of their human capital and their ability to access financial markets, as well as weaknesses in institutionality.
EVEx – Energy Virtual Experience is a pioneering and international initiative that brings together energy experts, with the aim of discussing trends, exchanging experiences and finding cooperation platforms to accelerate the energy transition in the countries of the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America.
