Olade participates in the 2023 International Regulatory Forum in Colombia.

The International Regulatory Forum, in its 2023 edition, was an event that, together with the Universidad Externado de Colombia and its Faculty of Mines, brought together national and international experts in the city of Medellín to analyze the outlook of energy regulation in Colombia and Latin America. The main theme focused on the energy transition, a crucial issue on the agenda of governments, entrepreneurs and academics worldwide.

Medardo Cadena, Director of Studies, Projects and Information of the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE), participated in the panel “Regulation in changing political and economic environments”. During his speech, he stressed that the share of gas will increase by 2050. Cadena said: “There are 16 million Latin Americans who do not have access to energy. How can we use the energy transition process as a tool to close social gaps? Energy, after the pandemic, was consolidated as a cross-cutting axis for the economic development of the population in Latin America. ”

A relevant topic of the meeting was gas imports from other countries, the possible repercussions and the importance of the energy independence that each country should have, according to its particular circumstances.that this would have and why the importance of the independence it should have, according to each country.
