Olade and Fundación Bariloche evaluate Paraguay’s energy policy to provide technical assistance to the country

Olade through the Director of Integration, Access and Energy Security, Medardo Cadena, participated in work meetings convened by the Vice Ministry of Mines and Energy of Paraguay, on March 11 and 12, with the objective of analyzing a technical cooperation agenda on issues related to the revision of the Energy Policy, updating the balance of usable energy and energy forecasts of the country.

As part of the commitments made by Olade and Fundación Bariloche, which was also invited and was represented by its Executive President, Nicolás Di Sbroiavacca, they will structure a joint work proposal for the development of the requirements requested by the Vice Ministry of Mines and Energy of Paraguay, for which funds will be provided by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Itaipu Paraguay Technology Park Foundation (PTI), plus funds that may come from EUROCLIMA.

The Director of Integration, Access and Energy Security of Olade, Medardo Cadena, during the meeting mentioned “we are doing an evaluation through a joint work with Fundación Bariloche to make a review and evaluation of the energy policy, make an update of the energy matrix, of forecast, that is to say, of all those inputs that a country requires to define long-term objectives and monitor the fulfillment of those objectives. What we do in this meeting is to interact with the authorities, with the representatives of the energy sector of Paraguay to reach an agreement and a consensus regarding the type of technical assistance product, which we would provide from Olade and Fundación Bariloche to meet national objectives for the benefit of the population. “

The meeting was attended by the head of the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic of Paraguay, Julio Ullón; the Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy, Carlos Zaldívar; the Executive President of the Bariloche Foundation, Nicolás Di Sbroiavacca; the Director of Planning and Studies of the National Electricity Administration of Paraguay (ANDE), Ubaldo Fernández; officials of the Secretariat of Planning and of the Polytechnic Faculty of the University of Asunción; as well as IDB representative for Paraguay, Chile and Uruguay.
