Closing of the Executive Development Efficiency Program

In Mexico City, in the Energy Secretariat, the Executive Development Program for Energy Efficiency was closed, organized by Olade, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) and the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).   The Program had 37 participants from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay of which 20 were benefited with scholarships for their participation in the face-to-face closure that took place from July 9 to 13, 2018.

This program, which began in March of this year, had the objective of generating favorable institutional conditions to create and implement national programs for sustainable energy efficiency in the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.

For the closing of this training the participants prepared a proposal of energy efficiency policy and program for their country.

High-level instructors from MCT Ingeniería de Uruguay, specialists from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and energy efficiency specialists from Olade participated in the development of the module.

In the days of the face-to-face workshop, in Mexico, representatives of the Danish Energy Agency and important Mexican institutions of the energy sector attended, such as the National Commission for the efficient use of energy (CONUEE); the Fideicomiso para el ahorro de energía eléctrica (FIDE) and the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE), who shared their experiences in the implementation of energy efficiency programs.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Director for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Secretary of Energy of Mexico, Erika Streu Steenbock, representing Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and Lourdes Pillajo on behalf of Olade.

In this meeting, the importance of these programs to enrich decision-making and the definition of public policies at the regional level was highlighted.
