2026 April Newsletter

The OLACDE Newsletter– April 2026 highlights the coordinated response of Latin America and the Caribbean to one of the most complex energy scenarios of recent decades. Within the framework of the Energy Ministerial Dialogue convened by OLACDE, countries across the region agreed on the need to strengthen energy integration, accelerate the transition toward renewable energy sources, and advance joint regional energy planning to address the growing volatility of global oil and gas markets. The bulletin also underscores that nearly 70% of the region’s electricity generation comes from renewable sources, consolidating Latin America and the Caribbean as a global leader in clean energy.

The edition also features strategic advances in electric mobility, international cooperation, and energy innovation, including the partnership between OLACDE and Kara Solar to promote electric river transport in the Amazon, the signing of an energy cooperation Roadmap with Algeria, and the launch of new regional initiatives such as the “FES Government & Investment” forum within the framework of the XI Energy Week 2026. Additionally, the bulletin presents key technical data on regional electricity generation, electromobility, and projections for the mining sector’s energy demand, reaffirming OLACDE’s role as a regional platform for integration, energy security, and sustainable energy transition.
