Energy efficiency was one of the main topics during the Euroclima Workshop +

Olade actively participated in the Euroclima + Workshop, where representatives of the renewable energy, energy efficiency and water management sectors attended with an urban resilience perspective.   The workshop was held in Santa Cruz, Bolivia from April 10 to 12, 2018.

The Workshop raised important objectives with the representatives of the countries, namely: to share, socialize and discuss the guidelines for the presentation of proposals to the renewable energy sectors, energy efficiency and water management for urban resilience.

Within the framework of this workshop, Olade’s delegation made up of the Director of Integration Access and Energy Security, Medardo Cadena, and the Manager of the Olade -Canadá Project, Byron Chiliquinga, who made a presentation about the projects that are currently being developed in the Organization in the area of energy efficiency, in compliance with the ministerial decisions of its Member Countries.

Additionally, the participation mechanism that Olade will have within the Euroclima + and Arauclima Initiatives was assessed.

In meetings held by the Olade delegation with several sector delegates from the Member Countries, it was achieve their commitment to be the focal point for the execution of projects related to useful energy balances and the development of regulatory frameworks on energy efficiency.

In the Arauclima Initiative, initial agreements were reached with Aecid and Tecnalia for the development of the “Global Screening project for vulnerability and climate risks in the energy sector in Latin America and the Caribbean.”

A total of 65 specialists from 17 Olade Member Countries and four international organizations, including Olade (EC, Eclac and UN Environment), attended the Euroclima + Workshop, which was organized by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the French Development Agency (AFD), the European Commission and the Secretariat of the Euroclimate + Program.

Participating countries

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.

Four European countries: Belgium, Spain, France and Italy.
