The document analyzes the impacts of the pandemic in the Latin American and Caribbean region, which forced the adoption of sanitary protection measures that produced a drastic decrease in economic activity from the decree of the mandatory confinement of people in their homes in the most countries. Thus, the fall in energy demand is analyzed, making an average comparison of the pre and post confinement situation. The resounding fall in the demand for public transport is analyzed from the confinement measures and those that restricted the use of transport. The third part seeks to analyze the effects of a sharp drop in GDP during 2020 and an eventual recovery process from 2021, on the demand and supply of energy in the OLADE countries, grouped by subregions, based on the estimates made. by the IMF, on the percentage rates of decline in GDP for 2020 and of recovery for 2021.
