The OLACDE newsletter may 2026 highlights the main advances in regional energy integration amid an international context marked by market volatility and the challenges of the energy transition. Among the most significant milestones is the 65th Meeting of OLACDE Experts, held in Belize, where delegations from Latin America and the Caribbean reaffirmed the need to strengthen regional coordination, enhance energy resilience, and advance an agenda that incorporates artificial intelligence, digitalization, circular economy principles, social inclusion, and youth participation as key pillars of sustainable energy development.
The bulletin also underscores strategic regional initiatives such as the MERCOSUR + Chile Gas Integration Project, which could generate regional gas trade valued at up to USD 5 billion annually, as well as the launch of new oil and gas reports that demonstrate the growing importance of Latin America and the Caribbean in global energy markets. It further highlights OLACDE’s participation in an alliance of 15 multilateral organizations aimed at strengthening regional integration, along with social cooperation initiatives such as the donation of technological equipment to Ecuadorian students in partnership with the Embassy of Uruguay.
