The first phase of the indicative plan for the expansion of the Dominican electricity system began

Within the framework of cooperation provided by the Latin American Energy Organization (Olade) and the GIZ (German Cooperation) to the Energy Transition project, developed by the Ministry of Energy and Mines of the Dominican Republic, the training workshop on the methodology and management of the Simulation of Electric Power Systems (SimSEE) model, aimed at specialists from different institutions in the country’s energy sector, took place on February 18 and 20 2020, in the city of Santo Domingo.

Rubén Chaer, Olade’s consultant, who led the workshop, explained that SimSEE is a state-of-the-art expert system that allows building simulators for optimal operation of power generation systems, being applicable both in the long term (investment planning studies) as in the medium and short term (programming of the optimal operation of the system).

Training in the use of this tool constitutes the first phase of the action program, aimed at preparing the indicative plan for the expansion of the Dominican electricity system.
