2025 is set to be a strategic year for global and regional climate action for different reasons, including the presentation of the updates of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) by all countries for the period 2025 – 2030, the presentation of the indicative NDCs for the period 2031 – 2035 and the analysis of the figures presented in the first Biennial Transparency Reports – BTRs by the Parties.
In addition to the development of mid-term review processes of the implementation of the climate commitments acquired by countries ten years after the signing of the Paris Agreement and five years after the launch of the Global Methane Pledge.
Complemented by the development of the COP30 on climate change, back in the LAC region, with broad expectations in the face of the acceleration of climate action demanded by the first global stocktaking of the Paris Agreement, in the third five-year period of its implementation, which begins with the confirmation of the arrival of the safety margin established with the global temperature limit of 1.5°C with respect to the reference data of The pre-industrial era.
Within this balance, emphasis was placed on the need to advance in the various means of implementation, as conditions that enable a favorable environment for the effective achievement of the climate commitments assumed, which are key in all economic sectors to catalyze climate action.
For this reason, for the development of the II Methane Summit in LAC, the approach to the different means of implementation for the effective mitigation of methane emissions in the O&G sector is proposed, through panels, keynote speeches and training spaces to be included in the agenda.
