Olade together with the organizations associated with the JODI initiative (Joint Organizations Data Initiative) met on July 4 and 5, 2018 in Luxembourg at the headquarters of the European Statistical Office (Eurostat) to participate in the Inter-Secretarial Meeting, which aimed to analyze and evaluate the progress of the JODI activities and future initiatives that are scheduled.
In this space for discussion, each of the international organizations associated with JODI showed the state of progress of the data collection process. The development of the databases of JODI-Oil and JODI-Gas was also presented. Currently, the JODI counts with the participation of 114 countries which concentrate more than 99% of the supply and 89% of the world oil consumption.
Olade, through the Director of Studies, Projects and Information, Andrés Schuschny, took the opportunity to deepen the links between Latin America and the Caribbean and other international organizations in the field of energy statistics.
Among those present were officials from the International Energy Agency (IEA), the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum, the European Statistics Office (EUROSTAT), the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), the International Energy Forum (IEF), the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and members of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
During this mission, the Director of Studies, Projects and Information, Andrés Schuschny, held meetings with authorities of the International Energy Agency (IEA) to coordinate the technical work being carried out within the framework of the Programme to strengthen the management and dissemination of energy information for sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean. This program is executed by Olade with IDB’s financing and technical support from the IEA.
