The event entitled “Outlook of the Energy Community in the World and in Latin America” was held in Rio de Janeiro on August 29th and 30th, 2012, organized by the Brazilian Committee of the World Energy Council (CBCME) and the Union of Energy Industries (SINERGIA), with the participation of ALADI, ARPEL, ECLAC, OLADE, CIER, OAS, WEC-LAC and CAF.

  OLADE supports Energy and Hydrocarbons Directors in Central America

As part of the Energy Integration Strengthen that the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) executes with the support of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the I Central America Energy Directors and Hydrocarbons Directors Meeting on Managua, Nicaragua, on August 28 - 30, with the participation of delegates from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Panama.

On August 21, it began the VI Latin American and the Caribbean Biofuels Seminar organized by OLADE and the Secretary of Energy (SENER) of Mexico, in the World Trade Center Convention Center in Xochitepec, State of Morelos. The seminar is held with the support of the Government of the State of Morelos and through strategic alliance, on the technical side, by the American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture (IICA) and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The National Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Institution (INER) of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy (MEER) in Ecuador conducted the workshop on Energy Efficiency in Transportation on August 1, 2012. Representatives of governments and companies from 17 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean discussed the potential and possibilities of unconventional hydrocarbons development in the region during the Second Latin American and Caribbean Oil and Gas Seminar, held on July 25 and 26, 2012 in Montevideo, Uruguay.   Energy Integration: OLADE is preparing a study on recommendations for EI’s progress

The Permanent Secretariat of OLADE, with the support of specialized consultants and based on consultations with representatives of Member Countries, is conducting a study on analysis of barriers for energy integration in Latin America and the Caribbean and proposed recommendations for overcoming of such barriers.
