March 2025
Report No. 13 Energy Inflation in Latin America and the Caribbean (IE-LAC)

Energy inflation in Latin America and the Caribbean (IE-LAC) in March 2025 reached a historic monthly low of 0.01%, marking a significant decrease compared to the previous month, mainly due to a drop in international oil prices, which hovered around USD 68 per barrel. On an annual basis, energy inflation stood at 1.15%, showing a downward trend driven by smaller increases in electricity and fuel prices in the region and reflecting a more favorable international price environment for Latin American consumers. This scenario presents an opportunity for energy public policies in the region to take advantage of the trend without undermining sector investment.
