This report presents the electricity generation trends in Latin America and the Caribbean for March 2025, highlighting that this month recorded the highest electricity generation of the past 12 months (165 TWh), mainly driven by hydropower (47.1%) and natural gas (27.4%).
In March 2025, compared to the previous month, total electricity generation in the region increased by 8%, with growth across nearly all energy sources except for wind power and hydropower, which declined by 19% and 4%, respectively. These decreases were offset by increases in solar energy, bioenergy, and fossil fuel generation. Among all sources, solar energy experienced the highest growth between February and March 2025.
