2025 April Newsletter

The April 2025 Monthly Newsletter of the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) highlights the progress and challenges of the energy sector in the region, showing sustainable growth in renewable electricity generation, which reached 69% in 2024, driven mainly by hydropower, solar, and wind energy.

The transition toward a cleaner and more resilient power system is reflected in the decline in the use of non-renewable sources and in greater regional integration, promoting significant economic and environmental benefits, such as over US$23 billion in savings and a notable reduction in CO₂ emissions.

The bulletin also underscores the importance of coordinated planning, international cooperation, and loss reduction as key elements to strengthen energy security and sustainability in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Moreover, the growing energy trade between the region and the United States highlights the increasing regional integration in a constantly evolving global landscape.
