Energy Efficiency in Latin America and the Caribbean: Contributions to OLACDE’s White Paper

 

Call for Papers Guidelines

The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) invites the academic community, researchers, professionals, and students to submit their research papers for the present call entitled “Energy Efficiency in Latin America and the Caribbean: Contributions to OLACDE’s White Paper.”

Objective of the Call

To foster the production and dissemination of technical and applied knowledge on energy efficiency in Latin America and the Caribbean, with emphasis on methodologies, indicators, public policies, emerging technologies, and sectoral case studies that contribute to the development of OLACDE’s White Paper on Energy Efficiency.

Target Audience

Researchers, specialists, professionals, students, and the academic community of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Thematic Areas

Submissions are invited on topics related to, but not limited to, the following thematic areas linked to the development of the White Paper on Energy Efficiency in Latin America and the Caribbean, with the objective of providing evidence, methodologies, sectoral studies, and comparative analyses that strengthen its technical content and regional relevance.

The thematic areas include:

  • Drivers of energy efficiency policy: economic, environmental, social, and energy security dimensions.
    • Specific and/or related laws and institutional frameworks.
    • Technical regulations and energy labeling.
    • Economic instruments: subsidies, guarantee funds, and ESCO schemes.
    • Sectoral programs: buildings, industry, municipal services, and transport.
    • Disruptive technologies applied to energy efficiency.
    • Disaggregated data and energy information systems.
    • Indicators and methodologies for measuring energy efficiency.
    • Impact assessment of energy efficiency policies and programs.
    • Success stories in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Types of Contributions

The following types of contributions will be accepted:

  • Full Papers: Original and comprehensive research with conclusive results.
  • Short Papers / Research Progress Reports: Presentation of preliminary findings, case studies, or research proposals.

Note: Papers may be submitted individually or collectively and must not exceed 20 pages in total (including figures, annexes, and references). Citations and references must strictly comply with APA 7th edition standards.

Submission Guidelines

Papers must be original and must not have been previously published or be under review by another journal or event. The originality certification document is available in the attached annex.

Manuscripts may be submitted in Spanish, English, Portuguese, and/or French. Article submissions must follow the templates available in the attached annex.

The external evaluation of the papers will be carried out by regional and academic experts under a double-blind review process. The initial and final selection of submitted papers will be conducted by the editorial team of the book and OLACDE’s Directorate of Studies, Projects and Information (DEP).

The copyright of the submitted material shall remain jointly owned by OLACDE and the author(s), in accordance with the co-ownership framework established in these guidelines.

Dates

The call is open for the submission of papers and/or research progress reports from this moment until July 17, 2026.

Submission Process

The submission and review process for papers and/or articles will be conducted via email at eficiencia.energetica@olacde.org. Therefore, all submissions must be sent exclusively through this channel.

Publication

Selected papers may be used as technical input for the development of OLACDE’s White Paper on Energy Efficiency.
