In April 2024, energy inflation in Latin America and the Caribbean reached 3.95% annually, surpassing the region’s overall inflation rate of 3.54%. This increase, driven by rising international oil prices, directly impacts domestic fuel prices and poses a challenge for household economies across the region. Additionally, monthly energy inflation in April was 0.89%, continuing the upward trend observed since the beginning of the year, affecting over half the countries analyzed by the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE).
