Madrid hosts energy coexistence debate with OLADE participation

The Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) took part in the 2025 Madrid Energy Conference through its Chief of Staff, Mijal Brady, who joined the panel “Energy Coexistence: Balancing Hydrocarbons and Renewables to Meet Needs and Requirements of Distinct Geographies”, organized by the Institute of the Americas and IPD Latin America.

During her remarks, Brady emphasized that the energy transition in Latin America and the Caribbean cannot follow a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, it must be tailored to the specific realities of each country, strategically combining renewable sources and fossil fuels.

“We are not choosing between clean energy and development. We are choosing both. That is the true power of coexistence,” she stated.

The OLADE representative highlighted the role of natural gas as a transitional fuel, the need for pragmatic public policies, and the importance of regional energy integration to ensure equitable and sustainable energy access.

The Madrid Energy Conference serves as a key international forum for dialogue between Latin America, Europe, and the United States on the future of global energy.
