Olade spoke about the importance of long-term scenarios for the energy transition during the “2019 International Forum on Long-Term Energy Scenarios for the Clean Energy Transition”

The Latin American Energy Organization (Olade) through the Director of Integration, Access and Energy Security, Medardo Cadena, presented its vision on the importance of long-term scenarios for the energy transition, during the "2019 International Forum on Long-Term Energy Scenarios for the Clean Energy Transition "organized by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in Berlin-Germany from April 10 to 12, 2019.

Through two participations, the Director of Integration, Access and Energy Security of Olade, spoke about the existing gaps between the more conservative vision of public officials, who are responsible for decision-making, and the definition of long-term policies; the most explorative vision of academia and international organizations that work with scenarios.

With emphasis on the need of approaching these two visions so that the scenarios can be constituted as a tool and an information base for the adoption of public policies that make possible a faster transition towards the incorporation of clean energies.

In these spaces, Olade confirmed its support for the creation of the Long Term Scenario Network for the energy transition, and made available its Network of Energy Experts - Integration and Planning Network.

On Wednesday, April 10, the IRENA Side Event was developed within the framework of the "Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue", an event that was organized by the Government of Germany and dealt with the issue; "Exploring the limits for a rapid transition to clean energy - The role of the Long Term Scenarios".

Delegates of the Commission of the European Union, Ministry of Energy and Industry of the United Arab Emirates, Swedish Energy Agency, Natural Resources of Canada, Ministry of Foreign Economic Affairs and Energy of Germany participated in this session.

On Friday, April 12, session 6 of the "2019 International Forum on Long-Term Energy Scenarios for the Clean Energy Transition" was held regarding the Launch of the Scenarios Network for the Energy Transition. This event consisted of a brief description and dialogue about the networks as an instrument to support the transition to clean energy in the long term.

Participating were representatives of the NDC Partnership, the Global Green Growth Institute, the ASEAN Energy Center, the Energy and Economic Growth Program - Oxford Univesity.

In these activities, Olade's participation in the IRENA Network was coordinated.
