In its closing stage, the PALCEE Program consolidated the development of energy efficiency in Olade’s Member Countries

The Program for Latin America and the Caribbean on Energy Efficiency – PALCEE, executed by the Latin American Energy Organization (Olade) with the financial support of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), has concluded. The program was implemented since December 2018.

The Program aimed to consolidate the development of energy efficiency in the Olade Member Countries, by strengthening the institutional framework for energy efficiency, the development of technical and governance capacities and the reinforcement of energy efficiency initiatives already in place.

As a complement to these activities, during Phase 3 of the PALCEE Program, training programs were developed, among which the Executive Program in the Design of Energy Efficiency Initiatives, with more than 300 participants, stands out.

Within the framework of this project, specialized technical documents were developed and made freely available to the general public, including the document “Energy Efficiency Laws in Latin America and the Caribbean”, which will be published soon.

To conclude the third phase of the project, workshops were held with the Dominican Republic and Panama as beneficiary countries.  These activities were held virtually on December 8 and 9, 2021, with the participation of the Vice Minister of Energy Saving and Efficiency of the Dominican Republic, Alfonso Rodriguez; the Executive Secretary of Olade, Alfonso Blanco; the Director of Electricity of the National Energy Secretariat of Panama, Guadalupe Gonzalez and the Director of Studies, Projects and Information of Olade, Medardo Cadena.
