The IV Conference on Energy Transition in Latin America and the Caribbean took place in Guatemala

This year the IV Conference on Energy Transition in Latin America and the Caribbean took place in Guatemala City, on August 22nd, 2018, where the Director of Studies, Projects and Information of Olade, Andrés Schuschny, participated in a debate on the current challenges of renewable energies and climate change policies in the Latin American region.

In this space, possible geopolitical conflicts, vulnerabilities, the region’s growing supply of lithium to global demand, and the balance of the water, energy and food nexus were discussed. And the management of potential conflicts in the context of a world subject to the phenomenon of climate change.

During this dialogue the Director of Studies, Projects and Information at Olade was in charge of analyzing the possible vulnerabilities that may occur in cross-border electricity trade.

The Conference was held as part of the event called “Good Governance for Energy Transition”, organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, within the framework of the Regional Programme for Energy Security and Climate Change.

This event also brought together experts from the Federal Republic of Germany, specialists from Latin America and representatives of the legislature from several countries in the region.
