Olade present at the InterEnerStat 2018 Meeting

Olade participates in the “2018 InterEnerStat Workshop: Energy efficiency and end-use data and Meeting of Organizations”, a meeting whose mission is to explore how International Organizations can strengthen cooperation to reinforce the capacity of countries with respect to the provision of energy information and statistics. This meeting was held on October 2 and 3, 2018 in Paris-France.

In this meeting the priorities of each organization were analyzed, in the field of energy statistics and the characterization of differences and similarities that each organization faces. Another topic discussed was the identification of possible areas of cooperation with a view to ensuring the consistency and comparability of the energy information provided by the countries.

This space was also an opportunity to discuss the new challenges in the field of energy statistics, training needs and digital transformation. One of the issues highlighted was how to involve countries in the provision of information and improve the timeliness of the availability of information, the identification of ways to reduce the workload on countries and their respective dissemination.

The Director of Studies, Projects and Information of Olade, Andrés Schuschny, presented the progress of the results of the survey on the management of energy statistics carried out by Olade and the scopes obtained to date in the execution of the Program to Strengthen the Management and Dissemination of Energy Information for Sustainable Development in Latin America and the Caribbean.  This Program is financed by the IDB.

On October 4 and 5 at the headquarters of the International Energy Agency takes place the Inter-Secretarial technical meeting of the ODI (Joint Organizations Data Initiative), initiative of which Olade is part, meeting which reviews the various issues that make the development of the initiative, whose main objective is to coordinate actions to maintain and improve the Energy Information System, available to everyone with monthly statistics of production and consumption of gas and oil.
