The Energy Statistics Week will be held from February 27 to March 1, 2018, at the headquarters of OLADE in Quito-Ecuador. It is an event that will provide a variety of activities, which will aim to highlight the importance of adequate information management, within a sustainable energy planning.
Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 of February
On Tuesday, February 27 and Wednesday, February 28, within the framework of the Program for the Strengthening and Dissemination of Energy Information Management of Sustainable Development in Latin America and the Caribbean, several technical workshops will be held led by OLADE, which will count with the participation of representatives of the International Energy Agency (IEA), and experts in energy balances from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay.
During these dialogues, the methodologies of energy balances will be reviewed, and the proposal for the harmonization of statistical information in Latin America and the Caribbean will be analyzed. It will also be attended by specialists from the Joint Organization Data Initiative (JODI), who will offer training on the development of monthly balances of oil and natural gas.
Through this Program, OLADE seeks to increase the quality and optimize the dissemination of energy information in the region. Promoting the availability of harmonized energy statistics, with international standards, to ensure that data management in the sector becomes one of the pillars that promotes the sustainable and inclusive development of our countries.
This Program is financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and technically supported by important organizations such as: the International Energy Agency (IEA), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), and the Regional Energy Integration Commission (CIER).

On Thursday, March 1, the Project to Strengthen the Capacities of the Caribbean Energy Statistics will be launched. Project financed by the World Bank, which aims to improve the planning and management capacity of energy statistics in five Caribbean countries: Belize, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, and Suriname.
In this workshop, which will be attended by delegates from the beneficiary countries, and representatives of the World Bank, there will be reviewed the objectives of the project, the main activities planned, the components of the data collection process, and the steps to be followed during the next months within each participating country will be agreed upon.
