OLADE participates during DEMEX and MEXIREC 2017

OLADE, through its Executive Secretary, Alfonso Blanco, participates during the International Conference on Renewable Energies (IREC), which takes place in Mexico on September 11 to 13, 2017, within the framework of the Strategic Dialogues on the Future of Energy (DEMEX).

On Tuesday, September 12, the Executive Secretary was a member of the Opening Ministerial Panel MEXIREC 2017 and the Ministerial and High-Level Panel “Energy transition with Renewables: Globally and in Latin America and the Caribbean: Different pathways, shared goals.” Additionally, he participated as a keynote speaker during the OLADE SENER panel, where he spoke about the “Information Systems.”

This Wednesday, September 13, the Executive Secretary participates as the moderator in the workshop given by the WEC “Empowering through the energy – Scaling up rural energy access through innovation,” a space where there will be dealt the subject on “Renewable energy projects in rural areas, challenges, and opportunities.

The opening remarks of the Dialogues for the Future of Energy Mexico 2017 (DEMEX), were addressed by the Secretary of Energy of the Government of Mexico, Pedro Joaquín Coldwell, who stressed that it is necessary to speed up the process to reach the emissions reduction goals established in the Paris Agreements.

The inauguration was attended by Alfonso Blanco Bonilla, Executive Secretary Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE); Christoph Frei, Secretary-General World Energy Council (WEC); Pablo Moreno Cadena, President National Chamber of Electrical Manufactures (CANAME); Li Yong, Director General, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO); Roberto Reyes, Executive Secretary, National Energy Council, Republic of Salvador;

Other relevant participants who attended were: Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA); Francisco de la Parra, Director of CFE Operations; Rachel Kyte, Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the UN; Arthours Zervos, President of the Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21) and Sun Xiansheng, Secretary General, International Energy Forum (IEF).

MEXIREC 2017 is an international conference exclusively dedicated to renewable energies, and it is created so that government ministers, high-level decision-makers, experts, specialists and thought leaders, as well as the protagonists of the private sector and civil society, discuss and exchange their points of views, experiences, and solutions to accelerate the global increase of renewable energies.
