Fatih Birol, executive director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), and Andrés Rebolledo, executive secretary of the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE), ratified their commitment to cooperate and promote new joint actions between the two organizations.

The executive secretary of the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE), Andrés Rebolledo, and Fatih Birol, executive director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), held a meeting in which they addressed various energy cooperation issues between the two organizations and discussed different areas of mutual interest, such as energy security, energy efficiency, renewable energy development and energy transition. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to regional cooperation and stressed the importance of exchanging best practices and technical knowledge on energy issues.

Furthermore, OLADE’s executive secretary, Andrés Rebolledo, extended a cordial invitation to Fatih Birol, executive director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), to participate in the VIII Latin American Energy Week, an annual event organized by OLADE that brings together experts, government representatives, industries and other interested parties to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the region’s energy sector. This invitation reflects the interest in strengthening ties with Latin America and promoting an open and constructive dialogue on the most relevant energy issues.

This meeting reinforced the close collaboration between the (IEA) and (OLADE), and both institutions will work to address the region’s energy challenges and foster sustainable development.
