As part of the SCREEN\u2013ALC II project, a technical visit was organized by the Spanish Cooperation, The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE), and the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM) of Uruguay, aiming to strengthen national capacities to integrate climate risk management into energy planning.<\/p>\n

The sessions, held at the UTE headquarters, brought together energy sector experts from Uruguay and representatives from international institutions.<\/p>\n

Fabio Garc\u00eda, OLACDE specialist, presented the foundations of the SCREEN\u2013ALC II project, designed to increase the resilience of energy infrastructure in Latin America and the Caribbean to climate change.<\/p>\n

He explained that the project\u2019s methodology follows IPCC recommendations, addressing risk as the interaction between climate hazards, exposure, and vulnerability.<\/p>\n

During his presentation, Garc\u00eda shared the baseline scenario for Uruguay\u2019s electricity sector, excluding climate impacts, which will serve as the reference for future analyses.<\/p>\n

He also outlined the project\u2019s next steps: the development of climate-impact scenarios through 2050, the proposal of adaptation measures with cost-benefit assessments, and the delivery of technical tools to replicate the study across other energy infrastructures in the region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
