The monthly energy inflation in May 2025 dropped to zero from 0.17% in April, marking the lowest rate since September 2024.<\/p>\n

Twelve out of the twenty countries measured experienced either zero or negative energy inflation, remaining within a range of 0% to -3.55%.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Annual energy inflation in the region has been rising since March 2025. In May, it reached 1.55%. However, this figure is lower compared to the same month in 2024 (3.07%), which is related to the 2.25% drop in international oil prices between May 2024 and May 2025, falling from US$83.59 to US$63.62 per barrel, respectively.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

International prices of crude oil, natural gas, and coal showed a downward trend during the period analyzed. In fact, as of May 2025, all three indices are below the levels observed in January 2023. On the other hand, the energy inflation index in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) does not follow this trend. In fact, the latest figure for May 2025 is 8.8% higher than the value recorded in January 2023.<\/p>\n
