The region produced a total of 162 TWh, representing an 8% increase compared to December 2024. The data highlights a renewability index of 65%<\/strong>, driven by 105 TWh from renewable sources<\/strong> and a notable increase in the contribution of natural gas<\/strong>, which accounted for 5.4 TWh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Hydropower<\/strong> remains the primary energy source in the region, covering 45.5%<\/strong> of total generation, followed by natural gas<\/strong>, which represents 25.9%<\/strong>. Likewise, wind and solar photovoltaic<\/strong> energy showed significant growth, with increases of 2.0 TWh<\/strong> and 0.9 TWh<\/strong>, respectively, reflecting progress toward a more diversified and sustainable energy matrix<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Nine countries<\/strong> in the region achieved renewability indices above 75%<\/strong>, reaffirming their commitment to decarbonization<\/strong> and sustainable energy development<\/strong> in Latin America and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n

This analysis was conducted by the Latin American Energy Organization (OLACDE)<\/strong> as part of its Monthly Electricity Generation Report #2<\/strong>, capturing the evolving energy landscape of the region.<\/p>\n
