In 2022, the industrial sector accounted for <strong data-start=\"898\" data-end=\"933\">27% of total energy consumption<\/strong> in Latin America and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"971\" data-end=\"1034\"><strong data-start=\"971\" data-end=\"1034\">Main energy sources used in the regional industrial sector:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-start=\"1037\" data-end=\"1053\">Bioenergy: 28%<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1056\" data-end=\"1074\">Electricity: 23%<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1077\" data-end=\"1095\">Natural gas: 22%<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1098\" data-end=\"1123\">Petroleum products: 15%<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1126\" data-end=\"1137\">Coal: 11%<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1140\" data-end=\"1156\">Solar energy: 1%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1158\" data-end=\"1443\">The energy sector is responsible for approximately <strong data-start=\"1209\" data-end=\"1239\">15% of total CO\u2082 emissions<\/strong> in the region.
