A key meeting to promote technological cooperation and the development of digital energy solutions between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) and the Shenzhen Municipality organized the China-Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Digital Energy Forum on September 10 in that city. At this event, attendees had the opportunity to learn about cutting-edge technologies and innovative applications in the field of digital energy being developed in China.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the forum discussed opportunities for regional cooperation with China in areas such as the digital energy industry, energy storage technologies, sector investment and financing, the role of digital technologies in the energy transition, and investment opportunities.<\/p>\n

The event was attended by representatives of the Chinese Government in the energy sector and delegates from 12 OLACDE member countries, as well as representatives from the Shenzhen Municipality and key industry organizations.<\/p>\n

The inaugural ceremony featured remarks by Andr\u00e9s Rebolledo Smitmans, Executive Secretary of OLACDE, and Yu Jing, Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Development and Reform Commission.<\/p>\n

Rebolledo emphasized the growing cooperation between the region and China, highlighting that Latin America and the Caribbean play a crucial role in global energy development. “Cooperation with China is seen as a mutually beneficial opportunity for both regions. Latin America and the Caribbean are rich in energy resources and have made significant progress in incorporating clean energy sources into their energy matrix.” He also pointed out that the region has much to offer the world in terms of energy transition due to its wealth in renewable energy and its abundance of strategic minerals like lithium, copper, and others.<\/p>\n

For her part, Yu Jing welcomed attendees on behalf of the Shenzhen Development and Reform Commission and thanked them for their continued support of the city’s economic and social development, particularly in the energy industry. “In international cooperation, green development is being consolidated as a global consensus. The transition towards green energy development involves developing extensive industrial chains across a wide range of sectors, which requires joint efforts from all countries to make meaningful contributions to the planet,” she added.<\/p>\n

During the event, key topics such as “How Clean Energy Can Drive Electricity Markets in Brazil,” with the participation of Fernando Luiz Mosna Ferreira da Silva, Director of the Brazilian National Electricity Regulatory Agency (ANEEL); “The Development of Low Carbon Emissions in Shenzhen,” with Tang Jie, Director of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) and former Deputy Mayor of Shenzhen; and “Legislative and Regulatory Impacts and Challenges in the Energy Sector of Chile,” with Marco Antonio Sulantay, Congressman and President of the Mining and Energy Committee of Chile\u2019s National Congress, were discussed.<\/p>\n

Other prominent topics included trends in renewable energy development in China, presented by Dr. Pei Zheyi, and the electric vehicle infrastructure experience in Shenzhen, led by Jingjing Zhang, Secretary-General of the Shenzhen Electric Vehicle Operations Association.<\/p>\n
