Despite a turbulent political and macroeconomic environment, the wind industry is entering a new era of growth driven by increased political ambition, demonstrated by the historic adoption at COP28 of the goal to triple renewable energies by 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The report highlights the growing prominence of wind energy worldwide:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The 117 GW installations in 2023 represent a 50% annual increase compared to 2022.<\/li>\n<li>2023 was a year of sustained global growth: 54 countries across all continents built new wind farms.<\/li>\n<li>GWEC has revised its growth forecast for 2024-2030 to 1210 GW, 10% higher, in response to the establishment of national industrial policies in major economies, the increasing momentum of offshore wind energy, and promising growth among emerging markets and developing economies.<\/li>\n<li>Nevertheless, the wind industry must roughly triple its annual growth from 117 GW in 2023 to at least 320 GW by 2030 to meet the COP28 objectives and the pathway to 1.5 degrees Celsius. The Global Wind Report provides a roadmap to achieve this.
