The sixth meeting of Energy Ministers from the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) took place in the Honduran capital. This event served as a platform to evaluate the energy landscape of Latin America and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n

The government of the Republic of Honduras, along with The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE), led the session. It began with a keynote address by the head of the Energy Secretariat (SEN), Erick Tejada, discussing the energy transition in Central America and the challenges faced by the region.
\n“It is crucial that energy transitions on our continent progress in line with the needs of our people, as energy production, distribution, and consumption models must ensure emission reductions and improvements in people’s lives,” stated Tejada.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, presentations were held to analyze the challenges and opportunities for energy security in Latin America and the Caribbean, regional electrical interconnection and integration, and cooperation platforms in the energy sector.<\/p>\n

For his part, the Executive Secretary of OLACDE, Andr\u00e9s Rebolledo, affirmed that “for 2024, 95% of the generation projects that will come online will be renewable, placing us in a scenario of clean energy growth with a view towards energy transitions in our continent.”<\/p>\n

This meeting provides an opportunity to analyze the challenges and opportunities for energy security in Latin America and the Caribbean, regional electrical interconnection and integration, and cooperation platforms in the energy sector.<\/p>\n
