The “Challenges of Electricity Distribution for the Energy Transition” were presented and analyzed on July 18, 2023 during the event of the same name, organized by the National Energy Secretariat (SNE) in conjunction with The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) and with the support of the Association of Latin American Electricity Distributors (ADELAT).<\/p>\n
The event was attended by the National Energy Secretary, Dr. Jorge Rivera Staff, as well as the Executive Secretary of OLACDE, Andr\u00e9s Rebolledo; and the President of ADELAT, Felipe Acosta.
\nWhat challenges does electricity distribution face in the context of an energy transition with greater penetration of renewable energies? What elements are needed to foster the competitiveness of electricity distribution activity in the framework of the energy transition? They are part of the questions that the panelists resolved during this day.<\/p>\n
The Executive Secretary of OLACDE said: “Electricity distribution becomes one of the central elements in this energy transition and this is how it has to be conceived.” ADELAT’s Executive Director stated, \u201cGenerating a dialogue between the public and private sectors around the urgent challenges of electricity distribution is essential for a successful energy transition.\u201d

This event also provided an opportunity to learn about additional investments identified by stakeholders in the electricity sector, both in the short, medium and long term. Likewise, the audience was able to answer their questions about the current outlook and the opportunities that arise in Panama and the region.<\/p>\n
