The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) and Chile’s National Electricity Coordinator, in charge of the operation of the power system between Arica and Chilo\u00e9, signed an Interinstitutional Cooperation Agreement to strengthen cooperation between the two organizations.<\/p>\n
With this, both institutions seek to determine a cooperation framework for the development of activities to promote technical assistance, information exchange, technology transfer and best practices, innovation and technology development, with emphasis on capacity building.<\/p>\n
This will involve reciprocal technical assistance for the implementation of projects, studies, events, among others, with nine areas of cooperation, such as energy generation, transmission and distribution; infrastructure; blockchain and energy traceability; and innovation and technology.<\/p>\n
The President of the Board of Directors of the Coordinator, Juan Carlos Olmedo, said that “this agreement is in line with our Roadmap for an Accelerated Energy Transition, as there are common challenges that the different system operators in the countries of the region are facing, therefore international cooperation in Latin America is of strategic importance and this alliance with OLACDE is relevant to share experiences in the region.”<\/p>\n
On the Coordinator’s side, the execution of the agreement will be in the hands of the Executive Directorate. “Industry collaboration, including at the international level, is one of the keys to successfully solving the challenges that the energy transition is imposing on us,” said Ernesto Huber, executive director of the Coordinator.<\/p>\n
Andr\u00e9s Rebolledo, executive secretary of The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE), said that “the objective and mission of our institution is to support governments in the field of energy policies, promoting the integration of countries through various instances, so signing this agreement with Chile’s National Electricity Coordinator is key to collaborate with the rest of the countries of the continent. I’m sure this is a first step in looking for collaborative spaces.\u201d<\/p>\n
This agreement is a first step of this alliance, it is the work of sharing experiences on the traceability of renewable energies, where a series of meetings will be held with governments of other countries on energy issues.<\/p>\n
