The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) delivered technological equipment to the foundation Ecominga Red de Protecci\u00f3n de Bosques Amenazados, which will be used in its project “Virtual Classroom of the Villaflora Manduriacu community,” in northern Ecuador.<\/p>\n

About 150 families live there, whose children, upon the arrival of the pandemic, were unable to access virtual education. The dropout rate was almost 100%. For this reason, the foundation\u00a0reactivated a school with internet service there. This resulted in the reintegration of 80% of students.<\/p>\n

After the pandemic, the children can now do their homework there and receive training. \u201cIn this way, children and their parents become familiar with the use of technological resources and their possibilities. Now there are parents who are finishing their studies. It is a means that allows them to progress. If they are well educated, they can make better decisions for their future,” said Javier Robayo Guerra, director of the EcoMinga Foundation.<\/p>\n

The computer equipment donated by OLACDE will increase the number of computer stations to 20, which will be used by about 40 children between 6 and 8 years of age, as well as young people and adults. They will also be useful for an upcoming training of local guides.<\/p>\n
