The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization, and REN21 have the pleasure to invite you to the Paris-Agreement Compatible Scenarios for Energy Infrastructure Workshop.<\/p>\n

The workshop will take place online on April 21, 10:00 ART\/15:00 CET to 13:00 ART\/18:00 CET.<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. What is this event and what would we like to achieve?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Latin American energy transition won\u2019t happen without a greater development of the energy system, which includes grids. More grids are critical, and they must be flexible in order to adapt to a great increase in renewable energy sources.<\/p>\n

The workshop will help civil society groups understand the need for power grids and why they should contribute to electricity grid planning processes. Energy planners will in turn benefit from experts input to grid and scenario development processes.<\/p>\n

The workshop series has four objectives:<\/strong>
\n1. Interaction between the agencies that plan and develop grids and civil society that can provide expert input to these processes.
\n2. Local groups from civil society (e.g., climate NGOs, environmental groups) become aware of the need for grids and actively try to be involved in grid planning processes.
\n3. Planning agencies receive input from local stakeholders and understand benefits to increased stakeholder engagement.
\n4. Attendees and local partners continue to move the effort forward to raise awareness of the importance of grids and to be engaged in grid planning processes.<\/p>\n

2. Who should attend this workshop?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Members of national agencies responsible for grid planning
\n\u2022 Civil society and research groups that produce scenarios for energy production and demand, energy system analysis groups
\n\u2022 Civil society groups concerned with environmental impact of grid planning who might oppose grid development
\n\u2022 All organizations interested in the topics<\/p>\n
