The workshop was co-hosted by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.OLACDE.org\/en\/\">OLACDE (Organizaci\u00f3n Latinoamericana y Caribe\u00f1a de Energ\u00eda),<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.enelfoundation.org\/\">Enel Foundation<\/a>, and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/heep.hks.harvard.edu\/\">Harvard Environmental Economics Program.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The workshop,\u00a0<strong>\u201cEnergy Systems for a Decarbonized Future: Pathways for Latin America and the Caribbean,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>was designed to support energy and climate policymakers in the region by deepening their understanding of global trends on energy issues and enhancing their capacity to leverage that knowledge to advance decarbonization efforts throughout the region.<\/p>\n<p>Workshop sessions included \u201cThe Paris Agreement after COP-26,\u201d \u201cBuilding Climate Resilience in the Energy Sector in Latin America and the Caribbean,\u201d \u201cDecarbonization in the Energy Sector: Latin America and the Caribbean,\u201d and \u201cNet Zero by 2050: Is it Possible in the Region?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Countries represented included Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Speakers included academics, policy experts, and government officials from the Enel Foundation, the Energy Research Office for the Government of Brazil, Harvard Business School, Harvard Kennedy School, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Ministry of Energy for Chile, OLACDE, and the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are enthusiastic about creating alliances with the academia and the main regional and global knowledge centers and agencies.\u00a0 OLACDE\u00b4s culture is to create synergies with the different stakeholders.\u201d said\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/blancoalfonso\/\">Alfonso Blanco Bonilla<\/a>, Executive Secretary, OLACDE. \u201cGlobal climate actions are necessary.
