The launch of this\u00a0Observatory of Energy Management Systems, which has segmented information on the energy sector of more than 25 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, was officially announced on November 18<\/span>\u00a0during the second day of the\u00a0<\/span>VI<\/span>\u00a0Energy Week, 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n

During this session, the Executive Secretary of The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE), Alfonso Blanco, informed that in 2020 the collaboration between OLACDE and the Inter-American Development Bank was formalized\u00a0<\/span>“<\/span><\/em>with the objective of creating a platform for the exchange of information on best practices and lessons learned from the implementation of energy management systems in Latin America and the Caribbean<\/span><\/em>“<\/span><\/em>. <\/span><\/em>In addition to identifying possibilities and sources of financing to promote the implementation of this type of initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n

The executive secretary detailed the three stages in which the project was developed:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Survey and analysis of energy management systems, their results, experiences and best practices.<\/li>\n
  2. Development of a roadmap to propose alternatives and recommendations that will allow a systemic multiplication of the scope of the identified programs.<\/li>\n
  3. Development of the Regional Observatory of Energy Management Systems.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    “The observatory aims to make a decisive contribution to promoting the adoption of efficiency measures in the sectors with the highest consumption, mainly in the industry,<\/span><\/em>“<\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>said OLACDE’s executive secretary, Alfonso Blanco.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Leonardo Beltr\u00e1n\u00a0and\u00a0Andrea Heins, consultants who worked on the development of this tool, indicated that it is the benchmark for data and knowledge generation on the energy sector in Latin America and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n

    They explained in detail that the project pursues three main objectives:<\/p>\n
