{"id":11106,"date":"2019-10-30T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-10-30T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.olade.org\/noticias\/the-global-energy-transformation-one-of-the-topics-discussed-during-pre-cop-25-in-costa-rica\/"},"modified":"2020-06-29T15:23:47","modified_gmt":"2020-06-29T20:23:47","slug":"the-global-energy-transformation-one-of-the-topics-discussed-during-pre-cop-25-in-costa-rica","status":"publish","type":"noticias","link":"https:\/\/www.olade.org\/en\/noticias\/the-global-energy-transformation-one-of-the-topics-discussed-during-pre-cop-25-in-costa-rica\/","title":{"rendered":"The global energy transformation, one of the topics discussed during PRE COP 25 in Costa Rica"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) participated in the Regional Workshop on the Energy Transition in Latin America; this, as one of the activities of the preparatory meeting for the Conference of the Parties (COP), of the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), PRE COP 25, which was held in the City of San Jos\u00e9, Costa Rica, on October 7 and 8, 2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\"><span style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">OLACDE participated through the Director of Projects and Information Studies, Andr\u00e9s Schuschny, who intervened in the first panel discussion where he spoke on Global Energy Transformation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\"><span style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">This activity aimed to support the efforts of Latin American countries to undertake the transformation of their energy sector, through the exchange of experiences, lessons learned and good practices in the development and implementation of decarbonization strategies, driven by renewable energies, energy efficiency and electrification.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\"><span style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">The International Renewable Energies Agency (IRENA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Energy (MINAE) of Costa Rica and the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ), were the entities responsible for organizing said workshop.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\"><span style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">Subsequently, the Director of Projects and Information Studies of OLACDE, presented the Role of Decentralized Solutions based on Renewable Energies and participated during the panel: Decarbonization of the heating and cooling sectors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\"><span style=\"mso-ansi-language: EN-US;\">On Wednesday, October 9, OLACDE, with the collaboration of IRENA, organized a parallel event called \u201cNDCs in times of energy transition\u201d. On this occasion the Director of Projects and Information Studies of the Organization presented the study carried out by OLACDE: NDCs and Energy Policy in Latin America and the Caribbean (see the publication at <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2oU6ZB7\">https:\/\/bit.ly\/2oU6ZB7<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Department of Communication\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>and
