[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Within the framework of the project “Vulnerability to climate change and adaptation measures of the hydroelectric systems of the Andean countries”, the national and Andean sub-regional workshops were held on October 22 and 23, 2018 at the OLACDE headquarters in Quito-Ecuador.
\nThe purpose of the national workshop was to analyze the adaptation measures to climate change in the basin of the hydroelectric plants Baba and Marcel Laniado pilot case in Ecuador. The Andean subregional workshop discussed the progress of the project in its components 2 and 3.
\nDuring the workshops the participants expressed that the project has served to generate a link between the ministries and the operating companies of the hydroelectric sector, which has facilitated the dialogue and the identification of the most adequate measures to face the possible impacts of climate change on electric power generation.
\nThe project “Vulnerability to climate change and adaptation measures of the hydroelectric systems of the Andean countries” benefits five countries of the region (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela) of which their respective delegations of the Ministries of Energy and representatives of the operating companies of the pilot hydroelectric plants in each country, attended the subregional workshop.
\nJuan Paredes, representative of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and financial support of the project attended this meeting as well as delegates from Ecuadorian public institutions related to the project, such as the Ministry of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources (MERNNR), the Electricity Corporation of the Ecuador (CELEC EP), the National Electricity Operator (CENACE), the Electricity Regulation and Control Agency (ARCONEL) and the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (INAMHI).<\/p>\n
