[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]OLACDE wins the National Energy Globe Award Guatemala 2018, the world’s most prestigious environmental award.<\/strong> Among 182 participating countries and more than 2,000 projects submitted annually, OLACDE received this recognition for the presentation and implementation of the Rural Energy Project Management Methodology, with the inclusion of social variables and corporate social responsibility in the communities of Batzchocol\u00e1, Laguna de Batzchocol\u00e1 and Visiquichum.<\/p>\n

This methodology implemented by OLACDE, which attracted worldwide attention, incorporates social variables as an important element in the management and administration of rural energy projects. This method is aimed at taking advantage of and reinforcing the socio-cultural characteristics of the participating communities and taking into account the elements of their environment as a basis for ensuring the sustainability of the projects.<\/p>\n

In this way, the communities are able to be dynamic participants throughout the whole process and are empowered by the project that is directed for them and developed by them. This approach contributes significantly to the likelihood of project success.<\/p>\n

Characteristics of the methodology<\/p>\n

By including social and cultural aspects in the proposed methodology it should be more detailed and consistent, so it requires more effort at the outset, but its scope will be greater and will have a positive impact on the community and its environment.<\/p>\n

In addition, issues related to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) should be included as a key element for the contribution of resources to facilitate the implementation of these types of energy projects in isolated areas without access to modern energy sources.<\/p>\n

The challenge of rural energization does not only face technical challenges; issues such as health, poverty, the generation of opportunities, organizational capacity, the environment and many other aspects are relevant when formulating and implementing these kinds of initiatives.<\/p>\n

For these important and particular characteristics of this proposed methodology, OLACDE has been awarded with this important recognition, worldwide, which becomes a further impulse to continue generating initiatives to benefit the development of our region.<\/p>\n

Energy Globe Award<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Energy Globe Award is the world’s most prestigious environmental award for regional, national and global projects that promote the use of renewable and\/or emission-free sources.\u00a0 Energy Globe’s activities attract media attention from around the world.<\/p>\n
