[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]About 33 students from 15 nationalities in the region completed the Advanced Study Program on Energy Integration and Planning (Pieplac), organized by OLACDE y Cier with financial support from CAF. Students gathered in the city of Montevideo From April 26-30, 2018 to complete the second face-to-face module of the program.<\/p>\n

In this last module, the group of students presented their final research papers, which addressed 11 topics focused on barriers, current status and opportunities for energy integration through conventional and non-conventional renewable sources and small-scale liquefied natural gas for Latin America.<\/p>\n

“We are grateful for the relevant support we have received from the organizations and cooperating parties involved so that the entire program is framed within the regional energy agenda. The Executive Secretary of OLACDE, Alfonso Blanco, stressed during the closing ceremony of the Pieplac where he also mentioned that “links have been generated through the work carried out jointly by the participants, which has allowed them to establish links at the level of specialists in the region”.<\/p>\n

There were also present at the closing of the program Tulio Alves, CIER’s Executive Director, Omar Gonz\u00e1lez from CAF and Olga Otegui, National Director of Energy of the Ministry of Industry and Mining of Uruguay.<\/p>\n

In order to approve the program, the students took exams, presented group papers with specific topics and carried out a final research paper.<\/p>\n

The group of students participating in the Pieplac was made up of representatives of 15 Latin American nationalities, who conducted 180 hours of virtual classes and 88 hours of face-to-face workshops in Quito, Ecuador and Montevideo, Uruguay.<\/p>\n
