[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]OLACDE, together with the organizations associated with the JODI initiative (Joint Organizations Data Initiative), met on February 7 and 8, 2018 in the city of Vienna, to participate in the Inter-Secretarial Meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), with the objective of analyzing and evaluating the progress of the road map drawn up with the JODI initiative, to improve and strengthen it.<\/p>\n

OLACDE’s participation in the JODI initiative during this meeting contributed to deepening the links between Latin America and the Caribbean and other international organizations in the field of energy statistics.<\/p>\n

During the meeting it was presented the progress in the development of the JODI-Oil and JODI-Gas databases. Information is currently available on oil from more than 110 countries and gas information from 80 countries.\u00a0 These figures represent approximately 90% of the world supply and demand of both oil and gas.<\/p>\n

In this space, each of the International Organizations associated to JODI showed the data collection process progress.\u00a0 Regarding this work, the participants acknowledge that the task of compiling monthly data from so many countries is a complex and time-consuming task.<\/p>\n

Attendees included officials from the International Energy Agency (IEA), Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries (GECF), the European Statistical Office (EUROSTAT), the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), the International Energy Forum (IEF) and the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).<\/p>\n
