Public officials of the Belize Ministry of Energy strengthened their knowledge of the new harmonized methodology Olade – IRES

Within the framework of the Project “Strengthening the Capacities of the Caribbean Energy Statistics”, executed by the Latin American Energy Organization (Olade) with the financial support of the World Bank, the workshop on Capacity Building in the Energy Balance Methodology was held Nacional (BEN), in the city of Belmopan-Belize from October 16 to 18, 2019.

The workshop that was given by the Olade technical team, formed by Valeria Balseca and David Delgado, aimed to strengthen the knowledge of the officials of the Directorate of Energy of the Ministry of Public Services and Energy of Belize, on the new harmonized methodology Olade – IRES for the management of energy statistics and construction of the BEN, allowing to consolidate the energy concepts adapted to the reality of the country.

During the workshop the functional requirements for the Belize Energy Information System were also defined, which will be close to being implemented.

Project: Strengthening the Capacities of Caribbean Energy Statistics

The project consists of two aspects; the first to develop 5 national information systems for Belize, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica and Suriname and the second to conduct training on energy planning tools and prospective scenarios.

Through this project, Olade seeks to increase the quality and optimize the dissemination of energy information in the region to promote the availability of harmonized energy statistics, with international standards to make the data management of the sector, become one of the pillars that promote the sustainable and inclusive development of our Member Countries.
