Olade’s technical team participated in the summer school Energy Modeling Platform for Latin America and the Caribbean EMP-LAC 2023 in Costa Rica

Technicians and academics from different countries gathered on January 23rd in San Jose, Costa Rica for the summer school meeting “Energy Modeling Platform for Latin America and the Caribbean – EMP-LAC 2023”, whose objective was to contribute to the creation of solutions that promote optimized investments for energy transition in Latin America and the Caribbean; and meet the growing demand for low-carbon, inclusive and resilient development solutions to climate events, considering the sustainable use of resources.

Through this platform, participants had the opportunity to train, access discussion forums and learn about new models, systems and tools such as: OSeMOSYS and FlexTool, CLEWs, EBS and MAED, OnSSET, FinPlan, which are used for energy planning.

In this important space, the technical team of the Latin American Energy Organization (Olade), made up by Fabio Garcia and Targelia Rivadeneira participated as speakers at the closing high-level meeting, presenting the Energy Information Platform for Latin America and the Caribbean (sieLAC – OLADE). Here they highlighted the importance of having the information required by the energy sector centralized, organized and classified so that it is comparable and useful for policy formulation.

This event was organized by renowned universities, international cooperation agencies and multilateral organizations.
