Among its main specific duties are the following activities: Develop activities in order to meet the requirements of Ministries, Secretariats of Energy and other Member Country institutions. Support the sub-regional energy integration process. Collaborate in solving disagreements related to energy at the request of the Member States involved. Maintain statistics, national and regional databases and information related to the energy sector. Conduct energy policy and forecasting studies of Member Countries, different sub-regions and the Region. Publish articles and studies about energy issues. Regional dissemination of experiences regarding technology development in Member Countries and promote programs for cooperation with other entities or organizations preferably related to energy.
It has four Organizational Units, which have different technical specialties but act in an integrated and unified fashion. These units are correspond to the following departments: The Executive Secretariat, the Department of Integration, the Department of Planning and Projects, and the Administration and Finances Management.
