PARTICIPATING COUNTRY

The XXXI Meeting of Ministers of OLADE, held on October 2000, in Asuncion-Paraguay, in the interests of promoting an appropriate inclusion of the region in a world that is globalized, created the status of Participating Country of OLADE 
OLADE will grant the status of PARTICIPATING COUNTRY to any country located outside the geographical area of Latin America and the Caribbean that request it and that complies with the requirements and procedures established in the present regulations.

The Participating Country Status will be in effect through an Agreement that will be signed between the Government of the country that request it and the Organization after the Meeting of Ministers has approved its entrance by means of a Ministerial Declaration.

The PARTICIPATING COUNTRY must make a yearly financial contribution.   It will be entitled to receive all the documentation stemming from the meetings in which it participates, as well as the publications issued by the Permanent Secretariat.   

It will also have access to OLADE’s products and services.    It may participate with voice but not vote in the Meetings of Ministers and other official meetings of the Organization’s official meetings to which it is duly invited by the Permanent Secretariat.

Up to date, the only Participating Country of OLADE is the Democratic Republic of Algeria by means of the signature of the Participating Country Agreement dated July 09, 2001.
