The energy transition and climate change in the Caribbean were the main topics at the Congress held in Santo Domingo – Dominican Republic

The City of Santo Domingo- Dominican Republic, on May 21 and 22, hosted the Conference on Energy Transition and Climate Change in the Caribbean, an event that had as its main goal to raise awareness among authorities and professionals from public, private and the academy of the Dominican electricity sector, on the benefits and experiences in the development of renewable energies and the relationship between the generation of energy and climate change.

The Latin American Energy Organization (Olade), through the Director of Projects and Information Studies, Andrés Schuschny, participated with a conference in which he presented the advances, challenges and opportunities of renewable energies in the Latin America and the Caribbean region. He was also part of the panel “Integrated Resources and Energy Resilience Planning in the Caribbean.”

The event was attended by leading professionals from the field of energy, from International Organizations, Technical Cooperation Institutions and experts from the academic world of many countries.

This congress was organized by the Ministry of Energy and Mines of the Dominican Republic, in collaboration with the Energy Unit of the Secretariat of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the support of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
